The Rose Garden

The rose garden consists of an (almost symmetrical) arrangement of box-edged beds around a central fountain. The roses are mostly David Austin varieties, chosen for their long flowering season, healthiness, beautiful flower shape and colour, but there are a few old (single-flowering) roses included. The beds also contain hardy geraniums ('Kashmir Purple' and sanguineum) to fill in under the roses, and peonies to extend the season of interest.
