The Lower Terrace

The lower terrace replaced a narrow ironstone rubble strip. We replaced the ironstone with a much wider york stone terrace cut out of the sloping lawn and created a narrow bed for lavender 'Loddon Blue', Iris germanica 'Braithwaite' and Clematis 'Kingfisher' on black iron obelisks. Two standard Wisteria 'Alba' frame the steps up to the White Rose Garden. The rose, 'Shropshire Lad' climbs against the house wall, together with Clematis 'Purpurea Elegans' and 'Polish Spirit'.
